Cala Millor
Cala Millor translates as 'the better bay'. The four-mile long beach is arguably the best stretch of sand on the island. Visitors flock to the resort to bask on its fine white sand and swim in its crystal-clear waters. The beach is dotted with sun beds and umbrellas - perfect for sun worshippers. There are also a variety of water sports available, such as waterskiing and wind surfing. If you're after an even tan, and feeling adventurous, why not brave the nearby nudist beach at Punta Amer?
Nestled on the east coast of the island, the modern resort of Cala Millor is by far the liveliest town on this stretch of coast. Restaurants specialise in locally caught seafood and evening entertainment features live music, dancing and family fun. Its wide range of amenities and relaxed atmosphere appeals to all ages. Those wanting to explore the resort's surroundings can amble along the pretty coastal path to the traditional fishing village of Cala Bona. Alternatively, spectacular views of Cala Millor Bay can be enjoyed from the 17th-century watchtower on the headland nature reserve.
Situated 40 miles east of Palma, Cala Miller is a two-hour coach journey from the airport. Public transport is somewhat limited in this area, so visitors may find it useful to hire a car. A short drive away is the Caves of Drach, the monastery of San Salvador and the African wildlife park. Local markets in the nearby towns of Son Servere, Arta and Manacor are also worth a visit.
