Maspalomas
Maspalomas is renowned for its expanse of powdery white sand and spectacular rolling sand dunes. Holidays in Maspalomas offer a four-mile stretch of beach - perfect for sunbathers, swimmers, and water sports enthusiasts. The generous golden sands are dotted with sun beds and umbrellas. The pyramid-shaped sand dunes have been declared a protected wildlife sanctuary and can be explored on foot or by camel.
The resort is made up of traditional-style whitewashed buildings with an ample selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Visitors can browse the little shops and boutiques for souvenirs. For a wider selection of shops, head to the capital, Las Palmas, with its extensive shopping malls. The resort also features the largest golf course on the island as well as two water parks and The Holiday world Amusement Park.
Holidays in Maspalomas offer a wealth of hiking and biking trails amongst the island's tropical forests, mountains and pretty coastlines. Evenings in Maspalomas are a relatively relaxed affair. Visitors can enjoy alfresco dining at the strip of bars and restaurants surrounding the lighthouse. Those looking for a livelier evening with all-night drinking and dancing can head to the more hectic resort, Playa del Ingles, one mile, (two kilometres) away.
